Full-Time School Nurse
Job Description
The School Nurse serves as the primary health professional for our school community. This role is responsible for providing high-quality clinical care, maintaining health records in compliance with state laws, and promoting a culture of wellness. The ideal candidate will be a compassionate professional who supports the mission of Catholic education.
RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS
• Clinical Care: Provide first aid and emergency care to students and staff; manage chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, allergies).
• Medication Administration: Safely dispense prescribed medications according to physician orders and school policy.
• Health Documentation: Maintain accurate, confidential electronic health records; audit immunization records for state compliance.
• Screening & Prevention: Conduct annual vision, hearing, and postural screenings; implement infection control protocols.
• Collaboration: Act as a liaison between families, and school staff regarding student health needs or Individualized Health Plans (IHPs).
• Spiritual Presence: Model Catholic values of compassion and respect in all interactions with the school community.
Requirements
• Licensure: Valid and active Registered Nurse (RN) license (preferred) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in Virginia.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience; pediatric, emergency, or school nursing experience highly preferred.
• Certifications: Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
• Faith Commitment: A willingness to support and participate in the Catholic mission and identity of the school.
• Communication: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate medical information clearly to non-medical staff and parents.
Full time, exempt (10 month position)
